The chain is planning to fully remodel and rebrand the Hotel San Remo
LAS VEGAS, Aug. 19 -- The Hotel San Remo has signed a management deal
with the Hooters restaurant chain to rebrand the Las Vegas hotel-casino into a
Hooters Casino Hotel. The hotel will debut next year. With a total cost of $120
million, San Remo Executive Vice President Michael Hessling, a partner in the
new ownership group, said the renovated property will be positioned to compete
with its upscale neighbors on the Strip.
The renovation project will erase all other traces of the San Remo as it now
exists. Four new dining and entertainment concepts are being added to the
property.
Dan Marino's Fine Food and Spirits will be one of the new restaurants in the
Hooter's Hotel that is intended for quality- and price-conscious visitors. An
accompanying Martini Bar, another Marino concept, is intended to appeal to
high-end customers and compete with the Ghost Bar in the Palms and The Bar at
The Hotel at Mandalay Bay.
The current pool area will be tripled in size and appeal to the current
Hooters clientele and compete with such pools as the Hard Rock pool.
The 600 current employees of the San Remo will be retained and 400 new
positions will be created by the renovation and rebranding project.
